What if I missed the registration deadline?
Day-of registration will only be available for CEU classes. We are unable to accommodate late registration for the full conference due to the number of events schedules that need to be coordinated – it’s important to note that many of these events have a participation cap, so register early to reserve your spot! Conference registration closes at midnight on January 15, 2018.
How much does parking cost?
There is free parking in the Galleria Mall garage. The hotel and mall are connected.
What is the attire?
Business or business-casual attire is required. (No jeans, mini-skirts, flip-flops, etc.) We recommend that you consider bringing comfortable shoes that you can easily slip on during the tours and Industry Expo if necessary.
Can I bring a camera?
Absolutely! Make sure to connect with us in social media with #IIDASC16. Please be aware that photography may not be allowed at some tour venues; your tour chaperones will advise whenever this is the case.
What happens if it rains?
Dallas weather can be unpredictable. You will be getting on and off a charter bus for the tours, so bring an umbrella just in case.
What if I have food allergies?
When you register, you will have the ability to report any food allergies. It is imperative that you note any food allergies at that time so we can do our best to accommodate your needs. We recommend bringing any specially required food items that we may not have access to.
What if I need to cancel my registration?
The deadline for cancellations is Wednesday, January 17, 2018. Please contact our Chapter’s Administrator, Megan Romboletti, for cancellation requests.
I’m an educator. Can I attend the conference and also take CEU courses?
Yes you can! Visit the CEU registration page for more information — registration for CEUs is separate from conference registration.
I attended the conference last year and want to tour a different firm this year. Is that possible?
That won’t be an issue for 2018 since we will be in a new city! All tours in Dallas will be new to everyone.
When I go on the tours, will I be paired with others from my school?
There is a chance that you will not attend the same tours as your classmates. This is a great networking opportunity so we encourage you to make new contacts and friends.
How do I register for the charrette competition?
The charrette is an invitation only event. Faculty sponsors of active IIDA Campus Centers will receive an invitation by email to nominate four students for this event. Information on how to be a Campus Center can be found on the IIDA website. Contact our chapter’s VP of Campus Centers, Shannon Oliveira, for more information.
Can I bring a digital portfolio to the portfolio review?
You are more than welcome to bring a digital portfolio, however you will also need to bring your own laptop. Wi-Fi is free to hotel guests, but may not be accessible on the conference floor; we recommend saving your digital file so you can view it without internet access.
Can I attend the events that are for professionals only?
Due to space limitations, the professional events offered at Student Conference (CEUs and Roundtables) are reserved for educators, designers, and other practicing professionals. Students will be able to explore these professional events through the information listed in the Conference Handbook, and we encourage you to make plans to attend these at a future conference as a practicing professional.
Who do I talk to if I need assistance during the conference?
Members of our committee will be stationed at the check-in/help desk in the 4th floor lobby throughout the conference. Conference Chairs and Event Coordinators will also be participating in each event and are available to assist you as needed.
