What if I missed the registration deadline?
Because of our strict attendance cap, we are unable to accommodate any late registrations. In addition, we will NOT accept day-of registration. Please plan accordingly.
What is the attire?
Business attire is required. No mini-skirts or flip-flops. However, consider bringing comfortable shoes for the firm and project tours and the Industry Expo.
Can I bring a camera?
Of course! However, please ask if it is okay to take pictures of your tour sites. Some project sites may not allow photography.
What if it rains?
Houston weather is unpredictable. You will be getting on and off a bus for the tours, so bring an umbrella just in case.
What if I have food allergies?
When you register, you will be asked if you have any food allergies. It is imperative that you note any food allergies at that time and we will do our best to accommodate your needs. We recommend preparing yourself and or equipping yourself with food items that we may not have access to. If you have any additional concerns that need to be addressed, please contact Stephanie McPeak.
What if I need to cancel?
The deadline for cancellations is February 17, 2014. For additional information please contact Stephanie McPeak.
I came last year and want to tour a different firm this year.
We are attempting to accommodate students who attended Student Conference last year but there are no guarantees that you will be on a different firm tour.
When we tour, will we be split up from our school?
This is a great networking opportunity and to encourage interaction between schools and students we make an effort to split up schools when placing tours. Take this time to make new contacts and friends.
How much does parking cost?
There are three lots on the CityCentre property, and Parking Garage 1 connects directly to Hotel Sorella and the Norris Conference Center at no charge. Please park on Level 3 for direct access to the sky bridge. Bring or lock your valuables in your trunk for security purposes since it is a public garage!
Can I bring a digital portfolio to the portfolio review?
You are more than welcome to bring a digital portfolio, however you will also need to bring your own laptop. Wi-Fi is free and available throughout the conference center but be mindful of technical issues – save your work so you can view it without internet access. Laptops / computers will not be provided.
Can I attend the events that are for professionals only?
Because we will be having events running concurrent with the Student Conference, we cannot allow students to attend professional only events. We do encourage you to take part in each activity slated throughout the two day conference. Take advantage of all the great opportunities listed in your handbook!
Who do I talk to if I need assistance during the conference?
Our committee members will have special name tags so feel free to ask them any question you may have during the conference.
